About the Studio
Founded in 1991 in Moscow, the Iconography Studio of the Venerable Alipy of the Caves (St. Alipy Pechersky) is dedicated to the study and faithful development of the sacred Orthodox image—the Holy Icon. Our iconographers are united by a commitment to reveal the spiritual meaning of the icon through its canonical form and beauty. We hold that the icon is a testimony through which the Church speaks, teaches, and proclaims; and that truly authentic church art can be created only within the living tradition of the Church, rooted in the grace of the Holy Spirit.
Craftsmanship & Facilities
We work with natural mineral pigments and time-honored techniques. Particular care is given to composition, drawing, and gilding so that every work is both liturgically appropriate and artistically convincing.
The studio operates with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. Our in-house production facilities in Moscow (over 1,500 m²) allow us to carry out the full cycle of artistic and woodworking services for churches and private clients.
